| dc.description | El presente trabajo analiza la evolución de las muertes por causas evitables acaecidas entre los jóvenes argentinos de 20-29 años en el periodo 1997-2011. Interesa conocer su participación en el total de muertes relevadas, su composición según las causas y si existen diferencias de acuerdo al sexo y la edad. Dada la inexistencia (una clasificación local que permita desagregar las muertes en evitables y no evitables) para identificar las primeras, se recurre a la lista confeccionada en ámbito del Sistema Único de Salud (SUS) de Brasil. Posteriormente, se calculan tasas específicas de mortalidad por sexo, grupo de edad y causa. Entre los principales resultados se evidencian considerables avances en cuanto a la reducción de las muertes atribuidas a enfermedades transmisibles y no transmisibles. Dichos avances contrastan con el incremento del nivel de las muertes ocasionadas por accidentes de tránsito, suicidios y agresiones. Esta realidad obliga a poner en marcha acciones integrales que trasciendan los servicios de salud, a fin de prestar atención especial a los sectores más postergados. | dc.description | This paper analyzes the evolution of deaths from preventable causes 20- 29 year-old people from Argentina between 1997 and 2011. It attempts to find out the incidence of these deaths in the total of deaths, its composition by causes and, finally, if there are any differences by sex and age. As there are no local classifications to disaggregate avoidable and unavoidable deaths, we use the list proposed by the Brazilian Unique Health System (SUS, for its acronym in Portuguese) and calculate specific mortality rates by sex, age group and cause. The findings show and important reduction in the level of deaths from communicable and noncommunicable diseases. On the contrary, the level of deaths from traffic accidents, suicides and assaults increases. Then, comprehensive actions (focused on the most deprived sectors) are needed in order to find a solution. | - |
