The article surveys the men and ideas that surrounded the First “Junta”, the propagandist role of the clergy, the questioning by two bishops of the legitimacy of the Revolution and the support of a patriotic bishop, the period of absence of bishops and religious continuity, the cultural work of the “Junta” and the Congress of Independencia in Tucuman.
